Product Description

What's is Isotropic Ferrite Magnets?

Isotropic ferrite magnets are a type of Permanent Magnet made from a mixture of iron oxide and barium or strontium carbonate. They are called "isotropic" because they have the same magnetic properties in all directions, unlike anisotropic magnets which have a preferred direction of magnetization. Isotropic ferrite magnets are relatively inexpensive and have good resistance to corrosion, making them useful in a wide range of applications such as motors, speakers, and sensors. However, they are not as strong as other types of permanent magnets such as neodymium magnets.

The production of Isotropic Ferrite Magnets

Isotropic ferrite magnets are a type of permanent magnet made from a mixture of iron oxide and barium or strontium carbonate. The production process for isotropic ferrite magnets typically involves the following steps:

1. Raw material preparation: The iron oxide and barium or strontium carbonate are mixed together in the correct proportions to form a powder.

2. Mixing: The powder is mixed with a binder, typically a plastic resin, to form a slurry.

3. Forming: The slurry is poured into a mold and allowed to dry. The resulting shape is called a green compact.

4. Sintering: The green compact is heated in a furnace to a high temperature, typically around 1200°C. This causes the particles to fuse together and form a solid magnet.

5. Machining: The magnet is then cut or ground to the desired shape and size.

6. Magnetizing: The magnet is placed in a magnetic field to align the domains and give it its magnetic properties.

Isotropic ferrite magnets are relatively inexpensive to produce and have good magnetic properties, but they are not as strong as other types of permanent magnets such as neodymium magnets. They are commonly used in applications such as motors, speakers, and magnetic sensors.

The different between Isotropic Ferrite Magnet and Anisotropic Ferrite Magnet?

Isotropic ferrite magnets have equal magnetic properties in all directions, while Anisotropic Ferrite Magnets have a preferred direction of magnetization. Anisotropic ferrite magnets are typically stronger than isotropic ferrite magnets and are used in applications where higher magnetic strength is required. Isotropic ferrite magnets are more commonly used in low-cost and low-performance applications.
