Sintered Neodymium Magnet (NdFeB magnet) is the most powerful commercialized Permanent Magnet available today, with maximum energy product ranging from 24 MGOe to 55 MGOe. It has a combination of very high remanence and coercivity, and comes with a wide range of grades, sizes and shapes. With its excellent magnetic characteristics, abundant raw material and relatively low prices, neodymium magnet offers more flexibility in designing of new magnets or replacing the traditional magnetic materials such as Ceramic Magnet, Alnico and SmCo magnet to achieve high efficiency, low cost and more compact devices.

NdFeB magnets are not resistant to inorganic acids and alkalinesolutions. Due to their high level of susceptibility to corrosion(surface rust corrosion) suitable surface protection should beapplied for certain applications. This comes in the form of metal-lic coatings based on tin (Sn), zinc (Zn) and nickel (Ni). Varnish orplastic coatings can also be used.

Rare earth magnets are also used for many consumer electronics applications. Virtually most modern speakers use neodymium magnets due to their small size and being much more powerful than other permanent magnets. As a result, Neodymium magnet can be found in the most current smart phones in speakers and vibrating motors.
